Buying Tips for Waterproof Trousers for Kids

There is a range of kids' waterproof gear available nowadays, from brands making scaled down versions of men and women styles through to brands specialising in kids waterproof clothing e.g. Muddy Puddles. We all know little ones love to play outdoors. It is usually us parents who fret about them getting soaked, when the kids do not mind the rain and love to splash about, in muddy puddles and having fun. Kids' waterproof trousers are probably the most cost-effective waterproof you can buy and offer the best protection. Rain will be kept on the outside, keeping your kids dry and comfortable. Kids' waterproof trousers are always a popular choice for schools and play-groups and forest schools. An all-in-one waterproof suit is also a good idea for babies and toddlers in a pushchair, allowing head to toe protection from the wind and rain. Non-breathable coated nylon is great for a short walk in the wet but for more extreme sports or a long period in heavy rain, you will need to choose a breathable fabric which is possibly wind-resistant. Membrane fabrics like Goretex is highly breathable and comfortable to prevent build up of perspiration. Nylon is a very lightweight choice for a waterproof as the clothing can be regarded as 'packable' and great for carrying. The fabric is strong and can be coated to give a totally waterproof finish. Nylon can also be made into a ripstop fabric by using thicker threads through the weave to give extra strength to the fabric. Wicking or Directional Fabrics are breathable and allow moisture to be directed away from the body. This stops sweating during strenuous exercise. Rain is also kept on the outside, so that the wearer is more comfortable. You will need to ensure the garment has taped seams, as any item of clothing cannot be deemed as waterproof if rain can get through the stitch holes. Without this the garment is simply classed as shower-proof. There are some safety and comfort features you need to look out for when it comes to kids waterproof. An adjustable waist is an excellent idea, this can be elastic or Velcro adjustable. This will make it easier for a child to put the trousers on themselves. A double layer of fabric at the bottom is also an excellent feature on some kids' waterproof trousers. Large pockets are great for little collections your kids have made on their walk or otherwise side through pockets to allow access to trouser pockets in the base layer. Waterproof trousers often come with a stuff-sac which is ideal for little ones to carry themselves or you can stuff them into the corner of your rucksack. If you choose your kids waterproof trousers wisely, they will be sure to get lots of wear from them and a great deal of pleasure from playing outside in any weather. As a mother you will be reassured to know that your youngsters will be kept dry and so you need not fret about them catching colds in a downpour.
